Here are the two redesigns for the panoramic layouts that will be used for my film. I am going to illustrate each asset on it's own layer and then import them into After Effects just like the exterior shot I did earlier. I am also going to set them up in 3D space and export it as pre-comps for each shot that requires these layouts.
I decided to do both sides of the diner, east and west so whatever portion of the layouts are seen through a camera, the audience will know where we are.
Diner East
Diner West
Band instruments
Now that these are done, I can start illustrating them.
I have also finished the diner exterior asset for my establishing shot. I placed it into the composition in After Effects today and it stands out well against the other buildings.
I have also improved the aesthetic of the fallen snow in this shot. Here is what it looked like originally
Before
After
To improve the aesthetic of the snow, I reduced the amount of snow that's fallen on the building and the details such as the window ledges. I also thought more carefully about the appearance of fallen snow and although irregular and quite smooth in real life, depending on the direction it fell and how much fell, I had to think of how snow would fit in with the design style I've gone for my film which is based heavily on the lines vs. curves concept.
