Neon Signs in After Effects

Neon sign asset in Illustrator without a glow effect applied

Setting up the document before exporting to After Effects. The groups show up in Ae as layers ONLY, not the sub layers e.g. just 'Drink' not 'Drink Top', 'Bubble1' and 'Bubble2'

I changed the colours of the layers so when it comes to key framing the neon glow effect later, I know which layer is which
